'Seabiscuit' a bad bet to revive horse racing

Like the Hula Hoop, horse racing once had its heyday.

It was a simpler America then -- kids spinning those large, colorful rings around their waists hour after hour; my Uncle Nathan looking for winning tickets discarded on the floor of the racetrack with me by his side.

But now, those Hula Hoops lie in the back of cluttered garages and horse racing lies in a state of disrepair. Meantime, my Uncle Nathan - - rest his soul -- lies in a somewhat pastoral setting midway between the late Bowie Race ...
