Late spring is prime time for one of Wisconsin's most attractive
and colorful plants -- the iris.
"What's nice about the bearded iris is, if you do a mixture, you
can create not only a succession of heights but a succession of
bloom," says Johnell Andersen, iris expert at Hawks Nursery in
Wauwatosa.
Jerry Bengtson, past president of the Wisconsin Iris Society, says
irises this year are starting to bloom a bit later because of the
