North Korea, U.S. on hold over nuclear dispute

Seoul, South Korea -- North Korea has refrained from provoking the
United States during the war in Iraq, but it also closed the door to
a U.S.-backed effort to resolve the dispute over its nuclear program
in the United Nations Security Council.
China allied with North Korea on Tuesday in dismissing the
usefulness of a U.N. Security Council meeting on the issue, which is
scheduled to take place in New York behind closed doors today.
