Taking a stand against Iraq war

When my daughter Mahalia was in fifth grade, she devoured every children's book she could find on the Holocaust. The more she read, the more she was horrified -- not just at the Nazi atrocities but at the complicity of everyday Germans.

"Mom, I don't understand," she'd say. "Why didn't people do something to help the Jews?"
