Women--and their money--are on the minds of the mostly male people who make and sell furniture.

Industry research has revealed that many women pull off one earring when they pick up the phone. Marketers took note. And one manufacturer of office furniture added a velvet-lined drawer just big enough for baubles to its new work stations for the at-home businesswoman. The line was introduced at the fall market in High Point, which ended last week.
