Ephraim -- My wife suggests I should preface this by acknowledging that I am becoming a Cranky Old Fart, a position I should challenge as unfounded. But it is beside the point, anyway.

I am not against change.

I just like things the way they are.

On the way to Ephraim -- ah, Ephraim -- for my annual after-the- fall-rush visit, I passed through Sturgeon Bay, where a big new Target store greets visitors, having bested Wal-Mart for the right.
