Vacationing couple hospitalized with likely cases of bubonic

New York -- Two tourists were hospitalized in New York City after
they likely contracted bubonic plague in their home state of New
Mexico, health officials said.
Authorities stressed that the plague is not a threat to the
public. The disease occurs in 10 to 20 people each year in the United
States -- mostly in rural areas of the West -- and is rarely spread
