Look in your neighbor's refrigerator, and you'll probably find a jar of pickles.

We're a nation of pickle eaters, consuming more than 9 pounds per person annually, according to Pickle Packers International Inc. Trusty dills remain the most popular, but hot and spicy permutations are catching on.
