NBC's good health on Thursdays still needs plenty of 'ER'
treatment

NBC is operating on "ER," removing unneeded characters and
stitching up plot holes, trying to save a very profitable patient.
You don't have to be a Beverly Hills accountant to understand why
NBC agreed, four years ago, to pay the producers of "ER" $13 million
per episode.
With its eight-year run as king of the prime-time hill, "ER"
remains an enormously productive TV landmark. Moreover, its impact in
the heavily fragmented media environment of 2002 is as strong ...
