Town of Brookfield -- Saying the future of the community is at stake, two town supervisors have called for a special meeting to discuss the potential loss of almost $175,000 under a plan to eliminate state aid to local governments.

But unlike other municipal leaders who have vowed to fight the move and bristled at their portrayal as "big spenders," some town officials are preparing for the worst.
