NEW: Teen arrested in robbery for mother's day gift

FREMONT - A 14-year-old boy desperate for a mother's day gift was arrested this weekend when he tried to rob a Centerville liquor store, police said.

The boy was taken into custody Friday afternoon, shortly after Sam's Best Food Market on Fremont Boulevard near Peralta reported that they had almost been robbed by a gunman about 3:30 p.m., Sgt. Chris Mazzone said.
