A Sterling woman who was abducted at knife point from her home in February testified Thursday that she engaged her alleged attacker in conversation and even set up a dinner date, eventually persuading him to take her safely home.

"I kind of learned what made him angry and what calmed him down," the woman testified at the preliminary hearing for her alleged attacker. "I just asked questions, and it seemed as if some of his anger would leave. My feeling was I needed to gain his trust to get home alive."
