Music fans go back to wax/ Vinyl records surviving in a CD- dominated marketplace

Terry Atherton's lifelong pursuit of vinyl began in 1959, with a Chuck Berry record.

His personal collection is now up to 9,000 records and he stocks even more at his Earth Pig Music, a small record and used-CD shop at 1953 W. Uintah St.

There are plenty of bargain Nirvana CDs on the rack; shoppers can also pick up classics such as Bob Dylan and Mahalia Jackson records, and Atherton said more and more are picking them up on vinyl.
