Springs will honor slain law officers/Pikes Peak region lost 18 in the line of duty

It has been 19 years since Colorado Springs police officer Mark
Dabling was shot in the back after stopping an escaped prisoner from
Florida.
Years later, his sacrifice is still remembered.
Each year, Dabling and hundreds of other officers are
memorialized during National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day.
Last year, 150 law enforcement officers died nationwide, said
officials with the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
Memorial events on Saturday in Acacia Park will give Colorado
Springs a history lesson in the city's crime and the people who have
lived and died to keep ...
