Mars in its infancy may have been sculpted by the same process
that has shaped Earth's evolution, channeled the development of its
life forms and keeps its face fresh and young, according to new
evidence that scientists say could revolutionize their understanding
of the Red Planet.
On Mars, however, the process ground to a halt more than 4 billion
years ago.
The findings from the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft will, if
confirmed, provide the first direct evidence that the planet...

The Boston Globe
; Benjamin Franklin is usually depicted as a grandfatherly fellow, portly and genial, who would be at home by the fire of an 18th- century tavern, with a long-stemmed pipe in one hand and a tankard of porter in the other. In the familiar portrait of Franklin by his contemporary Edward Fisher, the

Mapping Earth's unseen region
USA Today
; The first global map of the Earth's core-mantle boundary, a 200-mile-wide swath of geology 2,000 miles beneath the planet's upper crust, has been rendered by Michael E. Wysession, assistant professor of earth and planetary sciences, Washington University in St. Louis. The core-mantle boundary, a

Scientists find evidence of shifting Mars crust `Tectonic' activity, like that on Earth, may give clues on life
The Boston Globe
; In what is being hailed as potentially the most important discovery in decades about Earth's sister planet, scientists have found that Mars probably experienced a process like that on Earth in which large sections of the planet's crust spread apart over time. No other planet besides Earth has shown
