SYDNEY - The end was hardly memorable.

Kevin Han backhanded the shuttlecock into the net, grimaced slightly, wiped his forehead and shook hands with Xinpeng Ji of China. Ji had defeated Han, 15-3, 15-6, Tuesday in the men's badminton tournament's round of 16.

Han, a two-time Olympian from Colorado Springs, walked off the court. There was no final wave, no last, lingering look.

According to Han, his singles' badminton career is likely over. Age is working against him - he's 27 - and he doesn't have the time to practice five, six hours a day, the kind of commitment the world's best players ...
