Feeling a little short of breath?
If you're a newcomer to Colorado, that's not a surprise,
especially if you're from lower altitudes. At sea level, the air is
dense and easy to breathe. But as you go higher, the air gets less
dense and your lungs have to work harder to take in the same amount
of oxygen.
The result can be altitude sickness, which affects about one in
four visitors to Colorado.
Todd Rowader, director of Memorial Hospital HealthLink and
medical director of the annual Pikes Peak Marathon, has three key
