Goalkeeper Chrissy Merrit called for the ball the second it
landed. But as a scramble ensued in front of the Colorado Springs
Christian net, she was somehow shielded from the ball.
Much to the delight of her Denver Christian teammates, Leah
Veldkemp found the gift and quickly deposited it to give her team a
first-half lead.
Oddly enough, disaster struck once more in the second half as
visiting Denver Christian escaped with a 2-0 shutout over CSCS in
