Red Rocks to get face lift in 2001
|
MORRISON - For nearly 60 years, the giant red sandstone walls at
Red Rocks have echoed with the music of every passing era.
From Big Band sounds of Benny Goodman, to the melodic crooning of
Nat King Cole, to the pop tunes of the Beatles and Peter Paul & Mary,
to the spacey vibes of The Grateful Dead and the gumball antics of
Hanson, the 9,700-seat ampitheater has heard it all.
But age has finally caught up with the famed venue that sits just
17 miles west of Denver. The bathrooms are outdated, the redwood
benches are worn, and fashionable amenities, like a restaurant, have
no place here.
