Air Academy comeback falls point short
|
ARVADA - Air Academy's girls basketball team lost a heartbreaker
Wednesday to host Arvada West, 41-40.
From beginning to end, Air Academy (12-9) played with its hearts
and season on the line, going for steals and sacrificing bodies for
the loose balls.
Seniors Shanna Schwarz, Shannon Higgins, Jenni Englebretson,
Megan White and Stephanie Gieck talked about playing "the best game
of our lives. We couldn't have asked for anything more."
But in the end it came down to Arvada junior Julie Gjertsen and
the damage she did in the first half.
Not that the end wasn't close.
