Filmmaker David Lynch, the king of all that is dark and twisted, takes a triumphant journey into the light for his latest film, "The Straight Story."

Based on a true story, the gentle, aptly-named drama chronicles a trip made by 73-year-old Alvin Straight (Richard Farnsworth) across Iowa to visit his estranged, ailing brother (Harry Dean Stanton) in Wisconsin.

His mode of transportation: a beat-up John Deere lawn mower.

That may sound like a voyage for a crackpot, but we discover Straight is among the most sane men on earth.
