Sand Creek, Pine Creek can't overcome slow starts
|
Neither team got an easy start in its first trip to the state
volleyball playoffs.
Sand Creek drew top-seeded Mullen.
Pine Creek got a Fort Morgan squad with a 25-1 record.
"In the preseason we were ranked No. 3, and a lot of times that's
just ink on paper, but we felt like we deserved it," Pine Creek coach
Deb Calhoun said. "Unfortunately, we got a tough draw. It's never
easy starting with one of the best."
Sand Creek can share in that sentiment.
Both area teams debuted at state with losses to the 4A tournament
favorites and never recovered.
