In eight years, the federal government has spent $130 million on 145 studies of gulf war illness, but the mystery continues.

Pentagon officials aren't sure what caused the perplexing mix of ailments suffered by more than 100,000 veterans of the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

More importantly, no cure has been found.

The latest turn in this evolving story will come in Colorado Springs beginning Monday, when a team of doctors and others from the Pentagon begins a weeklong visit to Fort Carson.
