Dave Barry headlines author banquet

The 1999 Mountains & Plains Booksellers Association annual author banquet promises to be a stellar event.

Dave Barry, popular newspaper humor columnist and author of several books, will be the master of ceremonies at the banquet, which is Saturday at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Grand Ballroom, 1050 13th St., downtown Denver. Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30. Tickets for the banquet are $37.50.

Barry just wrote his first novel, "Big Trouble," and has written more than 20 nonfiction books.
