CORTEZ - Bruce Bradley was struck by the curse of the Anasazi when he was 16 years old.

He was on the Navajo reservation, doing what he loved best - exploring, looking for Indian ruins - and an elderly Navajo farmer called him over to his land.

"Anasazi," the farmer said, pointing to ancient bones and pottery exposed by a crack in the ground. The old man handed Bradley a shovel and said, "You dig. Anasazi. You dig."
