The Castaways restaurant in Manitou Springs might sit at the
foot of Pikes Peak, but its aura is more reminiscent of the beach on
Gilligan's Island.
The booths resemble thatched huts, with primitive bamboo
lanterns illuminating the tables. Near the dining area is a
fountain that pumps water into a pool full of fish. Life preservers
hang from the walls.
The menu, too, has a distinctly nautical flavor.
Appetizers include an oyster cocktail (market price), escargot
($4.95) and steamer clams ($5.95) served in a bucket.
