Delta Air Lines Inc. says it's going to fly into the 21st century
on something other than a Boeing 777 jumbo jet.
In an unusual move, the nation's second-largest airline said
yesterday that it had deferred the orders it had placed for 11 of the
jumbo jets and might even sell the two it already has because it
can't come to an agreement with its pilots union over pay rates.
But the airline's announcement may simply be saber-rattling
because the new aircraft was to play a key role in the company's
