GOING TO EXTREMES?
This breathtaking and remote region of south-west Spain offers a
rare combination of lush forests, majestic mountains and sweeping
plains, peppered with towns and hamlets from another age. Taking its
name from the Spanish word extremar - meaning "to go to extremes" -
this ancient region has much to attract history buffs, bird-
