Green Bay - When Steven Fleegel was a young boy, his balloon
sometimes got away from him, and he cried as he watched his toy get
smaller and smaller in the sky.
Now Fleegel is paid to let balloons go.
The balloons Fleegel handles, though, are filled with hydrogen
until they're 6 feet across, and they're tied to a box of weather
instruments plus a tiny orange parachute. If they work correctly,
they'll soar about 1,000 feet a minute until they hit 100,000 feet
above Earth and burst when they're roughly the size of a two-story
house, all the while sending out a steady stream of information that ...
