Families share painful losses

OAKLAND -- Lorrain Taylor had a dream. She's had many dreams, but this one was different. She was in a bare room and her son, Obadiah, was there. She said, "Oh, Obadiah, don't just stand there. Give me a hug."

He walked over, hugged her and she said, "It's going to be a good year, isn't it?"

"Yes, Mom, it is a good year."

She woke up and it was New Year's Day 2007 and she had a vision of what this new year might hold.

Seven years ago, on Feb. 8, 2000, Obadiah, 22, a Merritt College student, and his twin brother, Ibade, a barber dreaming of opening his own shop, died after they were cut ...
