Michael Lerner could have followed his father, Alan Jay Lerner,
into the world of musical theater. Instead, he became a journalist,
serving as a foreign correspondent for Newsweek, and a filmmaker.
His 2005 feature film debut, "Deadlines," about the war in Lebanon,
snagged awards at film festivals around the world.
