The Washington Nationals yesterday signed first baseman-catcher
Robert Fick to a non-guaranteed contract, making Fick the only free
agent from last season's team to re-sign with the club. Should he
make the team, Fick will earn $850,000.
Fick, who will be 33 in March, hit .266 and drove in nine runs in
128 at-bats for Washington in 2006, when he served as a backup to
catcher Brian Schneider and first baseman Nick Johnson and even
