Import prices fall again in November

WASHINGTON (Bloomberg) -- Prices U.S. businesses paid for imported goods dropped 0.3 percent in November, the ninth decline this year -- evidence the Asian crisis is forcing foreign businesses to cut prices, Labor Department figures showed Thursday.

That followed an unrevised 0.1 percent gain in October. What's more, for the 12 months ended in November, import prices were down 3.9 percent, further evidence inflation remains under wraps.

Analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News expected import prices to fall 0.2 percent last month. Petroleum import prices, meanwhile, fell 1.5 percent last month, the ...
