Tulsa to celebrate its centennial

TULSA -- Tulsa will throw a party this weekend to celebrate its heritage as a city begun by an Indian campground and reputed for its one-time heyday as the world's oil capital.

The Take Me Back to Tulsa Centennial Homecoming Celebration kicks off Friday.

Festivities over three days include Romeo and Juliet ballet productions, a fireworks show and crowning of royalty at the University of Tulsa football game. Headliners at concerts will be Anita Bryant, Wayman Tisdale, the Tractors and other native performers. Mayor Susan Savage plans to ride with the mounted police patrol in Saturday's parade. ...
