Profits Up 198% for State Companies

Fourth quarter 1994 profits for the Oklahoma Composite of
publicly held corporations soared 198 percent from the previous
year to $353 million.
Sales-revenues for the group of 46 firms rose 20 percent to
$11.4 billion.
Profit margins, reflecting the sharply higher profits, rose
almost three-fold to 3.1 percent vs. 1.1 percent in 1993. Almost
three-fifths of the firms were more profitable than a year ago,
but only slightly more than two-fifths improved upon their margin
of profitability. While almost three-fourths posted higher
sales-revenues, 20 percent operated in the red.
