By all indications, natural gas appears to have fared much worse than crude oil in 1991 nationally, but perhaps more perversely in Oklahoma.

Oil enjoyed a upswing in prices during and after the Persian Gulf War; natural gas prices were basically unaffected. During the summer, spot gas prices plummeted to a record low of 95 cents per thousand cubic feet in parts of Oklahoma.
