Emile Kuri
Set Designer
Emile Kuri, 93, a two-time Oscar winner for his work on movie sets
and the designer of some of Disneyland's most enduring attractions,
died Oct. 10 in Woodland Hills, Calif. The cause of death was not
reported.
Mr. Kuri, who won Oscars for set design for the 1949 movie "The
Heiress" and 1954's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," also won an Emmy
for his set work on television's "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of
Color." Other Disney films he worked on included "Mary Poppins" and
"The Absent-Minded Professor."
His first job in film was as a set decorator for Hal Roach's 1937 ...
