Xtra Heat Adds Kattegat's Pride to Stable of Wins
|
When the Eclipse Award ballot for thoroughbred champions came out
earlier this month, Xtra Heat's name wasn't even listed among the
contenders for 2-year-old filly honors. While she may not have been
the best in the country, the inexpensive, overachieving little bay
sprinter has had a dominating year, winning eight of nine starts and
losing only in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at
Churchill Downs.
Xtra Heat put her speed on display yesterday, popping out of the
gate and leading wire-to-wire in crushing an outclassed field of six
in the $75,000 Kattegat's Pride Stakes at Laurel ...
