Fairgoers Hurt as Draft Horses Topple Pole

A team of draft horses competing Saturday night in the horse pull at the Charles County Fair broke loose and plowed into a light post, demolishing a fence and sending bits of board flying.

The accident injured six people and panicked more than 100 fairgoers who were in the grandstand in the show ring watching the evening's livestock competitions, fair officials said this week.
