Like so many other Oklahoma City firms, the Minton Machinery Co. took off during the oil and gas boom of the late 1970s and early 1980s - with sales more than tripling to $3.5 million.

Unlike so many other firms, however, Minton Machinery avoided leaping into expansion in its distribution of welding and spraying equipment, tools and abrasives. The Minton family allowed itself only the construction of a 4,000-square foot building.
