ADMINISTRATION CUTS 1986 ECONOMIC PROJECTIONS; BOOSTS 1987 ACTIVITY

WASHINGTON - The Reagan administration, in a
preliminary review of the economy at mid-year, has trimmed its growth
estimate for 1986 b ut substantially boosted projections for economic
activity next year, officials said Friday.
The administration's forecast, which will be revised before being
issued, has reduced its projection for growth this year, as measured
by the gross national product, to 2.6 percent, down almost a full
percentage point from its February estimate of 3.4 percent growth.
