Well, wasn't the entire Statue of Liberty party wonderful?

And aren't you glad you weren't in the middle of those crowds?

The tall ships and the naval vessels and the fireworks and the celebrities and the citizenship ceremony and the speeches and the actual lighting of the statue. It was so moving and so exciting and so patriotic! The whole Liberty Weekend served to remind us of our heritage and our pride and our future.

We needed that.

Interestingly, in all the hoopla, one person important to the Statue of Liberty got short shift. He is the late Joseph Pulitzer and he almost single-handedly ...
