DAME ALICIA MARKOVA made history again at the London Coliseum last night when she presented the first dance award to be made by the Critics' Circle since its foundation 87 years ago.

The 90-year-old prima ballerina, who was recruited by Diaghilev to join the Ballets Russes in Paris in the 1920s but returned to pioneer the development of ballet in this country, was delighted.
