Ordinarily, I would not recommend a visit to a place having anything to do with the 1870s. It was a mean-spirited decade with terrible taste in art, colors, interior design, what have you.

Normally, I would not even step into a gallery of paintings that bragged about its "salon-style" hanging. Almost always, this means an assortment of dreadful paintings suspended atop each other as if at a Saturday art sale in a hotel ballroom: historical events, allegories, bambinos with wings.
