Shropshire rallies against web of lies from hacker

THE Pentagon's secrets may be safe and the global economy has not crashed, but a computer hacker in Shropshire has succeeded in sabotaging the local tourism industry.

The Virtual Shropshire website is tightening security after it was invaded by the hacker who rubbished the county online, describing it as a "series of decaying and festering market towns".

The website's description of the county as a rural idyll that welcomed visitors from all over the world was changed by the hacker to a "land of boringly verdant landscapes which have inspired unsuccessful writers and artists for centuries".
