Saved by a Mackintosh School rescued on its rainy day by archive

A VILLAGE primary school which has only seven pupils and one
teacher is about to land an 80,000 windfall from the sale of an
archive of papers relating to Sir James Mackintosh, the Scottish
politician, journalist and historian. The school, in the picturesque
Surrey village of Abinger Hammer, population 100, was built in 1873
by Thomas Henry Farrer and has been supported by a charitable trust
formed to save it after it was closed by the county council in 1982.
