'Secret' archives to reveal role of Queen Mother in Abdication

THE penultimate layer of those secrets still to tell of the
Abdication of Edward VIII, including the true extent of the
involvement of the Queen Mother, were today being laid bare at last
at the Bodleian library in Oxford.
Eleven dusty archival boxes were brought from the strong rooms
into full public scrutiny. They contain a hitherto closed portion -
"boxes 14 to 24" - of the archives of Viscount Monck-ton of
Brenchley, who as Sir Walter Monckton was a close confidant of Edward
VIII, as well as his lawyer, and a meticulous and witty recorder of
all his dealings.
