MACBETH Battersea Arts Centre
HAVING persuaded Corin Redgrave to do the Bard in Battersea,
director Tom Morris serves up a compact, intimate, but surprisingly
unengaging Macbeth, lacking in polish and pace. For every deft touch
that Morris brings to the tale, there is a clumsy attempt to cover up
for the smallness of the cast or the venue's lack of atmosphere.
Redgrave and his Lady Macbeth, Amanda Harris - both fine actors -
seem to coast along on this speediest of Shakespearean trag...
