ARTS Minister Alan Howarth is calling for a public debate on whether or not the Government should be listing post-war buildings across the country, including a Ministry of Defence chapel, a modern office block and a Fifties motor showroom.

Launching the appeal, Mr Howarth said: "It is not just buildings from centuries past that make up our heritage.

The best of our modern architecture also plays an important role."
