Carpetbaggers in webwide move to destroy mutuals

CAMPAIGN has been launched by a secretive circle of carpetbaggers
to collect enough signatures to force seven of the country's largest
building societies to table demutualisation resolutions before
tougher rules are brought in on 1 December.
The carpetbaggers, who refuse to reveal their true identities for
fear of reprisals from the building societies they are targeting,
launched the drive to collect signatures through a website
www.carpetbagger.com this week.
They are appealing for anyone over the age of 18 who has been
member of the Britannia, Portman, Skipton, Chelsea, Yorkshire, Leeds
